Straight from the archive: the Lacoste M89

29. Oktober 2021

Update your sneaker collection with the latest silhouette by Lacoste. Taken directly out of the Lacoste archive, the M89 is a reiteration of the iconic 80’s Maddison silhouette: a tennis court sneaker with an 80s vibe.

Today’s designs of the cult brand Lacoste are still mainly inspired by tennis. The M89 represents the perfect tennis court sneaker. The low-profile sneakers feature a fresh white colorway, leather uppers and the iconic Croc logo on the sidewall as well as classic Lacoste branding on the heel and tongue. The TPU heel and lace insert provide stability, while perforated details and rubber vents ventilate the foot. The green vintage hints match the lining and are made from recycled materials.

Lacoste, originally La Société Chemise Lacoste, was founded in 1933 by French tennis star René Lacoste. He was nicknamed „The Crocodile“ due to his tenacity on the tennis court. This nickname inspired him to create the crocodile logo, which he wore on his tennis shirts and which can be found on all products as the signature logo of the brand. Of course, the little crocodile is also present as a recognizable feature on the M89.
