The legendary Air Jordan 4 “Black Cement” returns 35 years after its original release in 1989, reimagined with a smooth leather upper. Inspired by the communal spaces, where dreams are born, we followed emerging rappers Oseka and La Blackie on their journey through Barcelona’s underground music scene.
The two artists both moved to the Catalan metropolis with the dream of become successful rappers. Their paths eventually crossed at a freestyle session at Manga Rosa hosted by Barcelona’s Voodoo Club collective, a community of multidisciplinary artists and creatives from different backgrounds.
With the rise of Spanish female rap in the global hip hop scene, La Blackie is next in line. Now enjoying more national recognition following her recent showcase in the Wizink Centre in Madrid, La Blackie naturally possesses the DNA of everything we love about rap music – the wordplay, the sassiness, and her obvious street knowledge – helping her establish herself as undoubtedly one of Barcelona’s most compelling wordsmiths. Born in the outskirts of Barcelona into a mixed family, she moved to the city center to insert herself into the hip hop scene collaborating with some of Barcelona’s most revered producers.
Pronounced almost identically to the city in Japan – Oseka, Barcelona based rapper of Nigerian descent moved to the city in 2018 with high hopes for the Catalan capital, where he helped lay down the foundations for the Voodoo Children’s Club, fight through a couple semesters in film school before dropping out to focus on music. With very low opportunities for english speaking artists in Spain – his objective is to get his music to the outer world.
The Air Jordan 4 “Bred Reimagined” will release on 17 February via solebox.com and all solebox locations.
