The Converse Pro Leather has been worn by basketball legends on the court a couple decades ago. As one of the most iconic basketball silhouettes the Pro Leather became an important part of our today’s youth culture. Former barber of Kanye West but also lifelong basketball fan, sneakerlover and stylist IBN Jasper is now the first creative to present his own reinterpretation of the model. We wanted to link back to IBN’s roots and set up a shooting in an authentic barbershop.
Converse has reissued its archived Pro Leather silhouette, with IBN reworking the classic in a way it combines basketball, skating and music. He mentioned that the shoe’s aesthetics are inspired by a photo of the famous basketball player dr. J. in an all-white outfit he wears while entering the arena. IBN wanted to combine and reflect the fashionable looking outfit and vibe of the image in a capsule collection.
Draped in premium white leather with grey suede overlaps near the midsole, a snake embossed tongue and an antique brass zipper guard the model presents itself in a luxury execution. A „1976“ lace dubrae that nods to the year of the shoe’s debut, embossed stripe and star logos on the heel and medial regions and metallic stitched detailing on the lateral sides take the Pro Leather to a whole new level. The model gets finished off by a pink leather interior and a cream colored outsole. We styled and combined the silhouette with selected items of our Comme Des Garçons SHIRT apparel.
The upcoming IBN Jasper x Converse Pro Leather will be available from September 26th online only via solebox.com for 120 €.
