GEL-KAYANO 5 OG Lookbook

The GEL-KAYANO 5 silhouette first launched in 1999 six years after the first GEL-KAYANO model which also had a great impact on the GT-Cool Xpress and X-Caliber GT. Back then the GEL-KAYANO was not designed as a competition runner but more as a cross-trainer. The current trend in sneaker culture shows that performance and lifestyle merge more and more – with the retro of the GEL-KAYANO one can thus speak of a precision landing.

Toshikazu Kayano based his cultic design for the first KAYANO model on a stag beetle. The silhouette has been refined since that time persistent. Its protective cage and hard plastic heel support mimics while the tough exterior of the beetle operates as an armoured shell. Using the seminal ASICSTIGER technology, every GEL-KAYANO design has been distinct providing athletes with velocity, convenience and confidence.

The reissued GEL-KAYANO 5 is ready to take over the track and the streets while combining vintage and contemporary features. Two decades of redevelopment and creativity mediate the look and feel of the 1999 classic, which got updated through the new GEL technology and a quadra-lacing system.
