The Air Jordan 17 “Lightning” is back, available on June 6th exclusively via solebox.com and all solebox locations. To celebrate the return of this iconic silhouette, we accompanied Berlin stylist Lawrie Glorie, showcasing how the iconic shoe bridges the gap between its origins as a basketball shoe and Jazz-inspired elegance.
When the Air Jordan 17 released in 2002 to mark Michael Jordan’s second return to the NBA, it became an instant hit with fans. Built around a Tuned Air cushioning system, the shoe provides unique comfort while the design enhances the tried and tested Jordan aesthetics with its own note.
Our film shows Lawrie at home and on the basketball court with his pair of Air Jordan 17 “Lightning”. Whether listening to a Jazz record in his apartment or relaxing with headphones on after shooting hoops – music is a constant companion throughout his day, just as the shoes, merging sports and lifestyle seamlessly.
Transcending its basketball roots, the Air Jordan 17 takes inspiration from Jazz music and its improvisational nature resting on top of a solid foundation. This is represented by wave-like shapes and lines on the upper, evoking a transition from following sheet music into a flow-like state.
The Air Jordan 17 „Lightning“ will be available from June 6th via solebox.com and all solebox locations.
