PUMA SPEEDCAT LS – BUILT ON A LEGACY OF SPEED

25. Juni 2024

When PUMA launched their Speedcat silhouette together with Italian racing gear manufacturer Sparco in 1999, it became one of the defining shoes of the early 2000s. To celebrate the classic’s return as the Speedcat LS, solebox put the shoe to work on the motocross track.

PUMA’s Speedcat LS transforms the motorsport-inspired silhouette with luxurious suede, underscoring the fashion-forward element of the shoe. However, the LS remains true to its legacy, working just as well on our motocross bikes – kept in red & black, in line with the classic original Speedcat colorways.

The original Speedcat appeared around the millennium, its design based on a racing boot that PUMA designed for Formula 1 driver Stefan Bellof in 1984. A legacy still clearly present in 1999 as well as 2024, both in terms of functionality and style.

The silhouette features a low-profile sole capped off by a slick two-tone upper, featuring PUMA’s recognizable logo strip on a one-color background. While the logo evokes a street or racing course, the shoe’s shape is similarly aerodynamic, making it stand out just as much today as it did 25 years ago.

Since its launch, the Speedcat has spawned numerous variations as well as becoming a design template for PUMA’s line of racing boots they’re supplying to teams such as Ferrari, Red Bull and others to this day. And once again, the low-pro phenomenon seems poised to recapture the imagination of both fashionistas & motorsport enthusiasts in 2024.

The PUMA Speedcat LS will be available from June 29th via solebox.com and all solebox locations.
