Even though the record-breaking temperatures lasted well into October this year, we are missing summer already. And nothing compares to cooling off on a hot summer day with ice cream – it takes us back to a time when things were just a little simpler.
First stepping onto the court in 1986, the adidas Rivalry is one of the most iconic silhouettes from a time when the Three Stripes dominated the hardwood floors of the NBA. Worn by Rookie of the Year Patrick Ewing in his debut season for the New York Knicks, it quickly became a streetwear icon in NYC’s emerging hip-hop scene.
The solebox x adidas Consortium Rivalry Low features grey hairy suede layered with white full grain leather panels, velvety pink and brown microsuede stripes to add a little flavor to the upper – vanilla, strawberry and chocolate.
The beige tongue is knit for a waffle-like texture, inspired by Viennese Cane Webbing, while the heel is embossed with solebox and adidas branding. Rounding off the ice cream sandwich theme, the shoes come wrapped in special foil packaging.
For the campaign, we decked out an ice cream truck with custom solebox branding. The video follows two young ballers walking home after a rough defeat at the local park, who have their spirits lifted by a flamboyant ice-cream man and some free ice cream sandwiches.
The solebox x adidas Consortium Rivalry Low „Neapolitan Ice Cream Sandwich“ will release on October 28th via solebox.com and all solebox locations.
