Nike Free brings back comfort, function and design to the Berlin neighbourhoods. To honor this new everyday sneaker, we joined talented producer and rapper MCNZI, a field recorder and the Nike Free Run Trail ‘Berlin’ on a journey through the different Boroughs of Berlin. By recording local sounds and using them as samples, a soundtrack was created and accompanies this upcoming release, which is inspired by the Berlin sneaker community, the neighbourhood and lifestyle.
To celebrate the comeback of the Nike Free, we joined Berlin-based rapper MCNZI on a journey through the different boroughs of his homecourt. Equipped with the Nike Free Run Trail ‘Berlin’ and a field recorder, we went into the southwest of Berlin to capture and connect with local sounds. While roaming around on a mission to identify and record all the sound elements, MCNZI collected everything to use as samples and produced a soundtrack with it: “Boroughs of Berlin”.
Inspired by the Berlin sneaker community, the neighbourhoods and lifestyle, the Nike Free Run Trail ‘Berlin’ was a perfect match for this journey through the Berlin areas Wannsee, Marienfelde and Tempelhof.
The Nike Free Run Trail ‘Berlin’ comes in a low-cut and rocks a breathable slip-on mesh inner shoe. Over a perforated light grey leather overlay, the districts of Berlin are mapped out with a silver 3M print. The toggle lacing system is accompanied by a Nike branded double carabiner.
Looking over the pull tab on the heel, the insole shows a skeleton print of a foot and notches of the Free sole. The green midsole presents a modern contrast and lives up to its name with responsive cushioning.
