The GV Special dates back to the early ’80s when PUMA created a new shoe for tennis player Guillermo Vilas.
The Argentinian had gone on a winning streak in the years before, ending up with 62 titles overall, becoming an icon in the process. To this day, he is one of 8 players to play in more than 100 finals.
Nowadays, the shoe has found a home in the rotations of those opting for clean, understated silhouettes and colors. While the silhouette is clearly rooted in sports & performance, the midsole profile is slightly chunkier than with other court shoes, providing extra comfort.
The GV Special’s sporty heritage is also visible in its perforated front, allowing for increased breathability—a welcome feature, regardless of where you wear these. With its signature curved lines along the side of the shoe, Puma keeps the branding classy and elegant.
