The Nike Zoom Vomero 5 is having a moment in 2023. The recent popularity of the complex retro-runner is easy to understand yet hard to define. We took the Nike Zoom Vomero 5 “Olive Flak” to the streets of Amsterdam with local creative Yuki Cecil.
Having lived in Tokyo and Amsterdam, Yuki was able to broaden her view on culture and fashion. These influences have allowed her to step out of her comfort zone and style her outfits in ways that she never would have imagined. This season with the Nike Zoom Vomero 5.
First introduced in 2010, the performance running shoe offers a sophisticated material mix of synthetic suede, mesh and molded plastic for support. The responsive Zoom Air sole was designed for a stable and comfortable ride.
Following Samuel Ross and A-COLD-WALL*’s re-interpretation of the silhouette in 2018, the Zoom Vomero 5 later returned in its original form in a few understated colorways, that complement its futuristic yet retro aesthetic.
Like a true performance sneaker, the model provides comfort through cushioning and ventilation. The complex design is both normcore and striking, that perfectly aligns with contemporary style.
